With a suddenness that startled them all the wizard sprang to his feet….
Picking up his staff he stood before the rock and said in a clear voice: 'Mellon!'
The star shone out briefly and faded again. Then silently a great doorway was outlined, though not a crack or joint had been visible before. Slowly it divided in the middle and swung outwards inch by inch, until both doors lay back against the wall. Through the opening a shadowy stair could be seen climbing steeply up; but beyond the lower steps the darkness was deeper than the night. The Company stared in wonder.

DESCRIPTION

The realm of Dwarves is an ancient one, known for their masterful weapon craftmanship and adept mining abilities. A once prosperous kingdom beneath the Misty Mountains, the Mines of Moria fell into shadow due to an unquenchable goldlust and the pursuit of mithril, mining too deep into the mountain, unleashing a fearsome beast that would be their undoing. The Dwarves' immense underground halls and cities caved to ruin and dust, save for dark creatures that lurk in the deep. The Fellowship of the Ring had to traverse many perils when venturing through Khazad-dûm, narrowly escaping the Watcher that guards the waters by the entryway and fleeing for their lives once the fated Balrog emerges.

The Mines Of Moria pipe is made from cherry wood with an ebony finish. Streamlined and sleek, this straight Dublin style body has a tapered mortise-and-tenon acrylic stem with a pinched tip. The engraving pictures a crown worn by the olden kings of Khazad-dûm surrounded by the glistening gems of their desires, along with a hammer and anvil to represent the once-formidable forge. These symbols are part of the imagery carved into the Doors of Durin, the gateway to Moria. This traditional pipe includes a poking/tamping tool, metal bowl screens, and pipe cleaners, all wrapped up in a velvet drawstring bag and branded gift box.
